The Hubble Deep Fields

Michael Gallagher, 30th June 2000

Index

In December 1996, the Hubble Space Telescope peered for one hundred hours into a tiny region of the sky near the handle of the Big Dipper. In October 1998, the exercise was repeated to create the Hubble Deep Field South.

The resulting images constitute our deepest views yet of the universe.
